Clover is located in the North West corner of York County. Clover started out as a railway stop between York, SC and Gastonia, NC. The town of Clover is believed to have received its name from a water tank that supported the steam engines would leak water and caused a clover patch to grow at the railroad stop. According to the 2000 census the population of Clover is around 4,014. Clover is a new and upcoming area with Charlotte, NC and Rock Hill, SC as close neighbors. Lake Wylie is one of the largest attractions to the town with many boating enthusiast moving closer to the lake at a reasonable price.
